Auckland City Brass Youth Band

Under the appointment Will Hu, the Auckland City Brass Youth Band is a brass band for musicians 21 years and under. All levels of skill and experience are welcome.

In 2019, Auckland City Brass welcomed back the Youth Band program. It was very exciting for the whole band when we won the Youth Band section at the New Zealand National Band Competition in Wellington in 2022.

Now in 2023, we have a Youth Band and a Junior Band, so there is a place for young players of all experience levels. We’d love to hear from anyone wanting to join the band or start learning an instrument.

They rehearse once weekly during school terms, on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 - 5:00pm. Currently we are rehearsing at the City of Sails Bandroom, 98 Captain Springs Road (until our bandroom has been repaired).

The primary goal for the ensemble is to improve as individuals and as a group, as well as enjoying the friendships and musical challenges that arise throughout the year.

Call for Instruments

Do you have any brass instruments lying around the house not getting used? We are always looking for more instruments for our youth band, so please consider donating your instrument to someone young and enthusiastic who will give it new life. Please get in touch through our contact page.
